I am Casper, a designer based in Amsterdam Paris Berlin. I am currently Chief Product Officer at Snapp Automotive where we are creating a white-label in-car infotainment system with Android Automotive.
Over the past two years, we created an infotainment system as a product, here is a look inside our design process.
Visit -->I launched The Turn Signal in 2019 to share more about the interesting field of automotive UX design. I try to bridge the gap between academic research and industry, work on interesting projects, and write about car design in general. The blog has since grown to attract approximately 80K unique visitors annually.
Visit -->Despite my interest in historic Ferrari models, I found it difficult to find information on all the different models. So I created Enzo's Legacy, an interactive timeline that showcases every Ferrari model ever made.
Visit -->I want to spend less time doomscrolling and more time learning, so I'm building an app that shows a daily Kindle highlight and adds interesting related info.
Watch -->When I became a father, I found that my daughter would sleep much better with white noise. Using YouTube or other apps for this was inconvenient, so I created a small app that plays her favorite white noise sounds.
Watch -->As a child, I dreamed of becoming a car designer and was fascinated by the Italian 'carrozzerias' that designed beautiful cars in the 20th century. I built this website to celebrate all the cars they designed.
Visit -->Good design comes from iterating many times. For automotive interfaces, this can be tough since you ideally want to test your work inside a vehicle. Can mixed reality be the solution?
Read -->Climate controls are a fascinating design challenge. They seem simple at first, but quickly become complex. Most new cars have poor climate controls, so I explore new ways to design them.
Read -->Most new cars today have digital instrument clusters. Instead of simplifying, carmakers often add unnecessary complexity. Is it possible to design a digital cluster that is better than an analog one?
Read -->I enjoy experimenting with how technology can make history interesting. Together with my friend Daan, we created an interactive map that displays Wikipedia articles and other interesting open information.
